Rihanna fans should brace themselves for her new era as the Work singer has revealed her next album will be ‘completely different’.
It’s been an eternity and forever since the 33-year-old singer released new music but she has been quietly busy working on her ninth studio album, currently titled R9.
While promoting her third Savage x Fenty fashion show this week, Rihanna shared an exciting update on the hugely anticipated record and it sounds like her new music will be taking an entirely different direction to her past eight albums.
Speaking to PA, she said: ‘You’re not going to expect what you hear. Just put that in your mind.
‘Whatever you know of Rihanna is not going to be what you hear. I’m really experimenting. Music is like fashion. You should be able to play. I should be able to wear whatever I want.’
She then added: ‘I treat music the same way. So I’m having fun and it’s going to be completely different.’
The Wild Thoughts singer released her last album, Anti, in 2016 but she’s of course yet to share any release date details for R9.

Fans have been speculating whether Rihanna’s next album will feature her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, after the loved-up couple were spotted filming what seemed to be a music video in New York in July.
To add fuel to the fire, just days earlier, both Rihanna and A$AP had been seen heading to a recording studio for a late night session.
