LVMH Appoints Dr. Atira Charles As Moët Hennessey’s New Head of Diversity and Inclusion

LVMH — also known as Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton — is kicking off the new year with a few new additions to its senior staff, including the appointment of Dr. Atira Charles as its new head of Diversity and Inclusion, Black Enterprise reports.

The outlet shares that Charles has been active in the spirits industry for a while now, and understands the power of promoting and implementing diversity practices into a corporate-style luxury conglomerate like LVMH.

Her new position with Moët Hennessy is sure to propel her in her already-established lane as a thought leader and consultant.

“As far as IDE and working in the consulting industry, I feel like I was made for this from early on,” Charles shared in an emailed statement to Black Enterprise. “It has been important for me, in establishing and running my firm, The Charles Consulting Group, to focus on issues of diversity, inclusion and wellness.”

Within her written statement, Charles also noted the significance behind minorities, Black people, and POC acknowledging their identities within corporate settings.

She added, “But also, and especially as a woman and as a Black woman, to explore identity and self-awareness, this concept of self and our spirit which needs to be expressed, defended and oftentimes, to do that we need others to rally alongside us.”

Charles concluded her thoughts detailing how she will be overseeing several different initiatives at Moët Hennessy to promote diversity within the company, including “spearheading talent pipelining to promote diversity at the leadership level, as well as at the supplier level.”

“I will also be focused on furthering learning and development initiatives – from training to coaching and more – all dedicated to increasing transparency, vulnerability, and promoting dialogue internally,” she added.

Her efforts will mainly concentrate on collaborations across the organization to queue up inclusion efforts consistent with the LVMH brand.
