Former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker Ian Wright was delighted when he was reunited with his 1992 Golden Boot
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been reunited with his 1992 First Division Golden Boot and other precious mementoes from his storied career.
Wright’s Golden Boot award was among a collection of mementoes bought by an American private buyer for £7million after the forward’s ex-wife did not pay the fees for a lock-up in Florida where they were stored.
The 57-year-old has now been reunited with some of those keepsakes after Classic Football Shirts arranged a deal to return them to Wright after he made an appearance in one of their videos.
When he saw the stash, which also included the shirt Arsenal gave him when he became the club’s record goalscorer, Wright teared up.

“Where’d you get it from my friend?” Wright said. “I can’t believe you found that, man.
“This was stuff that I thought was all gone because my ex-missus took them all to America. My balls, the boot, the medals, everything was gone
”I never thought I would see any of this stuff again – especially this. Just to see my stuff again is amazing. I didn’t have any of it, it all went.
“When I show the boot to my girls they will be like ‘Wow! Is that real gold?’ and I will say of course it is.”

Matt Dale, the co-founder of Classic Football Shirts, said: “Everything in that collection is unique. It’s just one of everything, they’re special items. We paid what it was worth, knowing what it was worth.
“The reason why we did it is because a lot of times these collections can be put into auctions and split up, which I think maybe would have happened with this seller if he hadn’t got a buyer.
“If it had got put in an auction all of his possessions would have ended up across the world and he never would have been able to get them back. It was our own money, we thought it would be a nice thing to do.
