Teen Tries to Steal Plane to Attend Rap Show

An American teenager has pleaded guilty to attempted theft after trying to fly a plane to catch a rap concert.

Zemarcuis Scott, a 19-year-old man from Arkansas, was so compelled to attend a Famous Dex gig in Chicago last year that he tried to steal a plane.

The Associated Press reports that Scott pleaded guilty on Thursday (January 24) and has been sentenced to five years of probation for attempted theft of property and commercial burglary. The charges date back to July 4 2018 when the then 18-year-old jumped a fence at Texarkana Regional Airport with the intention to steal an American Eagle twin-engine jet.

Scott was stopped by security after managing to enter the plane’s cockpit. Police told investigators that Scott said he thought piloting the plane would involve little more than pushing buttons and pulling levers.

A court ordered an evaluation of the man’s mental state. He was ruled mentally competent by a psychologist.

Famous Dex, from Chicago, is signed to Atlanta rapper Rich The Kid’s label, Rich Forever Music.

Dex has collaborated with Lil Yachty on the songs ‘We Next’ and ‘4 Real’. His latest mixtape, ‘Read About It’, was released in 2017.
